ONBA meeting and other stuff

I hope that all in the group and your bees are well.  A quick update on our first beekeeping season shows that we look to have two strong colonies and one that will not give in and although looking to have been on life support, seems to be responding to treatment.  I observed all three warre hives yesterday and the workers were busy bringing back white pollen and they seem full of life.  I was amused to watch and listen to the odd drone dropping out of the hive into the air and buzzing awkwardly around like a middle-aged man after a few beers. I wonder who had in mind there!  Stretching a point with ‘middle aged’!  Anyway, from the feedback I have had so far, 1st September is the most popular date for the visit to our bees.  Could everyone who can make this date at 9-30am, please let us know as soon as you can, even those that have already intimated that they can attend.  Here are Harry’s instructions on how to get to us.  From Burford garden centre, head towards Carterton, go down the Shilton dip and up the other side.  Do not go into Shilton!  After the dip, follow the bend and pass the turning for the Manor/lane 200 metres on right hand side.  Manor Fields is set back 50 metres from the road, with iron gates and lampposts, the house is set back 50 metres from the road.  The postcode is ox18 4as.  If you get to Carterton you have gone too far!  We look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it.  Melvin’s mobile number is 07894280450, should you get lost.
